Brisbane Broncos NRL star Kurt Capewell makes a move in Queensland

NRL star Kurt Capewell has made a move, purchasing a property in a north-eastern suburb of Brisbane.

Records show the Brisbane Broncos player bought the home for $1.4 million, which was just $30,000 shy of the postcode’s record.

The listing agents, Harleigh Harris and Narelle Lorensen from Place Estate Agents, would not comment.

Nine has elected not to name the address.

The home includes a media room, outdoor pizza oven and space to build a pool.

Capewell lines up as a second-row forward and centre for the Broncos.

He made his NRL debut for the Cronulla Sharks in 2016 and went on to play for the Penrith Panters in 2020. He was on the Broncos’ hit list and recruited north in 2021, on a three-year deal, and first appeared for his new club in round one last year.

A property in Capewell’s new neighbourhood sold 12 days before his deal for $1.43 million, setting the suburb record.

Brisbane’s market has lost heat and speed in recent months, Domain’s March 2023 House Price Report shows.

The 0.1 per cent price decrease over the quarter to March is considered a “flatline” result by Domain.

The median house price in Brisbane sits at $805,818.

Other NRL identities to recently strike real estate deals include Josh Hodgson.

The Canberra Raiders-turned-Parramatta Eels player and his wife Kirby sold their Canberra home at auction on May 27 for $1.7 million, after relocating to Sydney.

English-born Hodgson signed a two-year deal with the Eels this year after seven years with the Raiders.

Listed by Jonny Warren and Sean Tognella of Jonny Warren Properties, the house at 44 Greenwood Street, Denman Prospect, contains four bedrooms and two bathrooms.

And Sam Burgess is awaiting a buyer for his $1,275,000 investment property in Sydney.

The former South Sydney Rabbitohs player, now an assistant coach, cancelled the auction for the luxurious apartment in Little Bay earlier this year and is offering it for private sale.
