Ex Cronulla Shark turned Gold Coast Titan Greg Bird made a fortuitous decision to sink $570,000 into a duplex about halfway through his six year stint in the Sunshine State.

Located walking distance from popular Nobby’s Beach, Mr Bird has now sold the three bed double storey home for $1.2m.

The Mermaid Beach property was put up for rent by Mr Bird in September 2015 at $660 per week, just a month after he and wife Rebecca – sister of former Newcastle Knights forward Robbie Rochow – bought a Broadbeach Waters home for $1.33m.

The Mermaid Beach duplex sold for $1.2m.

The property comes with a plunge pool.

Their second Queensland home was also put up for rent when the Titans released Mr Bird to let the controversial forward join English Super League side Catalans Dragons.

The Birds’ Broadbeach Waters property, which has a waterfront pool, was listed for rent at $2,000 a week in April last year, with the rent upped to $2,100 in May this year.
