Young family’s heartbreaking reason to move to Qld

Renee and Chad Havas and their two young daughters, ditched inner city living in Oran Park south west of Sydney after Renee was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, opting for a treechange on a 978m2 homesite at Eucalee by Villawood Properties.

The Havas family decided to ditch their inner city life in Sydney for a slower pace in Queensland after mum Renee was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis – and can’t wait to become Queenslanders.

Renee and Chad Havas and their two daughters have opted for a treechange at the $400m Eucalee master planned community by Villawood Properties, and are currently designing their dream home – a two-storey house with pool and big backyard on a 978sq m block.

“When my doctor said I needed to de-stress we looked at our lifestyle and what we were providing for our children and we decided to make a change,” Mrs Havas said.

“We wanted to get away from the rat race – I needed space and I needed to breathe and that meant getting away from the concrete jungle where we could slow down and give the kids a different lifestyle with a big backyard and room to move.”

She said when they started to get serious about Queensland, she went into research mode over everything including people’s experiences with medical facilities in the area.

“I have to get MRI scans regularly and have access to specialists, most of which are located in city centres. That’s why we chose Gleneagle as it’s still within reach of the medical facilities on the Gold Coast and Brisbane.”

The Havas family is looking forward to their new build and a greener lifestyle in Eucalee.

Her tips for anyone with medical issues making the interstate move for a better lifestyle were to “join community social media pages, research what medical facilities are close by and don’t move too far away from the city centre but just far enough to get out of the hustle and bustle”.

“I travelled to Queensland as a regular holiday destination as a kid, so there’s lots of nostalgia and great memories. Every time my husband and I have been there since we have enjoyed the laid back lifestyle and the welcoming nature of the locals and we can’t wait to make this our permanent home.”

She said many of their family and friends had already made the move to Queensland a few years ago.

“We don’t have family in any other state,” she said. “I’ve got friends who have moved from Sydney to Queensland and they keep telling me to expect to slow down. On our recent holiday to Queensland, we started to realise what this meant; there’s less traffic and congestion, it’s less busy and far more laid back.”

“We are looking forward to a healthier lifestyle. Moving to Eucalee, we expect to spend more time in nature with hiking trails, rainforest and all the natural wonders the Scenic Rim has to offer.”

“Eucalee’s strong sense of community was one of the biggest draw cards for us and when compared to what else was offered in South East Queensland, Eucalee really stood out as value for money with much larger blocks at far better price points.”
